About the competition
To celebrate 25 years of the Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS), the Freshwater Fishing and Stocking Association of Queensland, with the support of Infofish and Fisheries Queensland, is holding a statewide fishing competition across 61 active SIPS dams and weirs.

Competition dates
The competition will run for a 2-week period during the Queensland September school holidays, from 20 September to 6 October 2025.
How to enter
It's easy:
- Buy a SIPS permit.
- You must hold a valid SIPS permit at the time of capture (if 18 or older) or have permission from a parent or guardian if under 18.
- Register via the Infofish Australia SIPS 25 competition app. Search for 'SIPS 25' in App store or Google Play.
- You will receive a unique 'verification code certificate' that you will need to validate catch during the competition period.
- Go fishing and claim a prize!
How to claim a prize
To win a prize, you must:
- take a photo of yourself with the fish
- take a photo of the fish against a brag mat/ruler to clearly show its length and ensure the 'verification code certificate' is visible
- upload your catch details and photos in the Infofish Australia competition app.
Verified catches will be calculated over the 2 weeks of the competition, with the winner informed at the end of the competition period. You can check your progress on the competition leaderboard in the Infofish competition app.

Prize categories
Category 1: Most fish caught
Prizes will be awarded to the most successful fishers in each region.
- 30 prize packs in total—awarded to the top 6 competitors from each of the 5 regions.
- Each prize pack includes a rod and lure set provided by Frogley's Offshore.
Category 2: Longest ‘hero’ fish
Recognising standout catches across both senior and junior competitors.
- 14 prize packs—with 7 for seniors and 7 for juniors.
- Each prize for seniors is $1,000 worth of gear from Rapala.
- Each prize for juniors is $500 worth of gear from Rapala.
Category 3: Australian bass challenge
Awarded to the angler who records the highest number of Australian bass over 50cm. Prizes are supported by Shimano.

More information
- Murray cod closed season is currently in effect across the Murray–Darling Catchment.
- Murray cod are not to be targeted in any part of the catchment, including in weirs, during the SIPS25 competition, except for the following 6 dams:
- Connolly Dam
- Cooby Dam
- Coolmunda Dam
- Glenlyon Dam
- Leslie Dam
- Storm King Dam.
- Murray cod ‘hero' prizes are only for catches from the Glenlyon, Leslie and Storm King dams.
- Murray cod are not to be targeted in any part of the catchment, including in weirs, during the SIPS25 competition, except for the following 6 dams:
- Woodford Weir is not part of this competition as it is located within the Mary River closed waters.
- The fish must be line caught; however, you can use a landing net in combination with line fishing to bring the fish onshore.
- Do not clean, gut or scale the fish to take photographs.
- After taking the necessary verification photos, you can keep or release the fish.
